Peregrinos

My first proper conversation with a real peregrino was with Anne Marie, who I sat next to in the airplane. She walked for 36 days earlier this year and fell in love with a man she met running one of the albergues along the way. She was returning to help him close up for the season. The flight time passed quickly as she told me her story and I promised to drop by for water later today when we reach Casa Banderas in Vilacha, just this side of Portomarin.

We briefly chatted with a group of cyclists at the airport and shared our taxi with Jill. Jill's husband started his camino by bike a few days ago and she is meeting up with him in Santiago de Compostella.

Over a beer we exchanged pleasantries with two couples who told us they were making their way to the end using buses and taxies as well as shanks pony.

Our guide has lots of quotes and this one seems apt/ When you meet anyone, remember it is a holy encounter. And as you see them you will see yourself./
